I’ve owned two pairs of these shoes, and both experienced deterioration of the insole and interior, particularly in the heel, which ultimately led to their retirement after six or seven months.
Considering they are around $30, my expectations were met. I highly recommend these as a barefoot transition shoe or an affordable pair of casual shoes. However, I wouldn’t suggest using them for running or extended hiking/rucking. Overall, you get what you pay for, and if you keep that in mind, you’ll appreciate these shoes for what they are.

While the toe box is spacious and they do feature a Zero Drop design, the soles feel a bit too thick and rigid to qualify as true barefoot shoes. Although they are thinner than standard footwear, they still don’t provide the authentic barefoot experience I’m after. Instead, they offer more of a beginner or “barefoot-light” feel. You’ll find that your foot doesn’t bend or flex nearly as much when walking in these, even after removing the insoles, unlike some other barefoot brands. I may sound like a shoe snob, but those who have embraced barefoot walking know it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

That said, there is padding at the heel, which provides a surprisingly good fit. The elastic opening creates a snug fit, making it easy to slip them on and off, especially with the thick band at the back, unlike the small loops found on most shoes.
The fit is good overall but they are a bit longer. I usually wear a size 9 in men’s shoes (labeled as a 42 for this pair), and the toe box is much roomier compared to my Altra Torin 5s, which is a big plus for me. While the extra length leaves some space at the big toe, it hasn’t caused any discomfort, and it might even act as a shield. Sizing down half a size could make the sides feel tighter than I’d prefer.
Interestingly, I can wear these shoes without laces thanks to the elastic opening; they stay on perfectly. However, it looked a bit odd, so I opted for the “hidden laces” technique. It was somewhat tricky with only four holes on each side, but since nothing needs tying, I made sure the laces were neat and snug before knotting the ends and hiding them between the rubber and fabric. This worked well, as it avoids discomfort from the laces while the slight bulk adds to a secure feeling.
After two days of use, I’m pleasantly surprised. These shoes are comfortable enough, and at only $35, I’m definitely considering buying more. They seem like they could be great gym shoes, though I’m not entirely sure yet. I highly recommend these if you’re on a budget, need new shoes, and are open to a wide toe box. Once you try these, the standard shoes will likely feel uncomfortable in comparison. I’m not sure about running in them yet, but I might give it a shot soon and share an update.
